What about procedures we can’t do on-site?
A vast majority of dermatological concerns can be addressed effectively during our visits. However, certain treatments and procedures require specialized equipment or a controlled clinical environment, limitations that exist to prioritize your safety and support the best possible outcome. If you need a service beyond our scope, our care team will gladly help you schedule an appointment with one of our partnering dermatology offices.
Common skin concerns we handle at your visit
These are some of the things people most often ask us about. What can be done during a home visit depends on what your provider finds during the exam.
Wart removal
Warts are caused by a virus and often need more than one treatment. Your provider can evaluate the wart during your visit and, in many cases, treat it on the spot with cryotherapy. We will tell you what to expect and how many visits are typical for your situation.
Mole checks and changing spots
A new mole, or one that has changed shape, color, or size, is worth having looked at. Your provider examines the spot, uses a dermatoscope for a closer view, and can take a biopsy at the visit if anything looks concerning. Results come back through our office and your patient portal.
Skin tag removal
Skin tags are benign growths that often appear on the neck, underarms, and eyelids, and they are common with age. They can usually be evaluated and removed during a home visit. Removal for purely cosmetic reasons is generally not covered by insurance, and we will tell you before we proceed.
DPN (dermatosis papulosa nigra)
DPN are small, benign dark bumps that appear most often on the face and neck, particularly in people with darker skin. They are harmless, but many people want them evaluated to be sure. Your provider can confirm the diagnosis in person and discuss whether removal makes sense for you.
Cysts and lipomas
Cysts and lipomas are usually benign but should be examined rather than guessed at, especially if one is growing, painful, or inflamed. Some can be managed during a home visit. Others need a clinical setting, and if that is the case we will help you arrange it with one of our partnering dermatology offices.
Keloids and raised scars
Keloids are firm, raised scars that grow beyond the original wound. They can be itchy or tender. Your provider can assess the scar and talk through the treatment options that are realistic in a home setting, and what would need a procedure room.
Some treatments and procedures require specialized equipment or a controlled clinical environment. If you need a service outside what we can safely do in the home, our care team will help you schedule with one of our partnering dermatology offices.
