Medicare and in-home dermatology
Medicare Part B covers medically necessary dermatology care, including skin exams, biopsies, and treatment of diagnosed skin conditions. That coverage does not change because the visit happens at your kitchen table instead of in a waiting room. We are in-network with Medicare, Medicare Railroad, Medicare Supplements, and the Medicare Advantage plans listed below, and we bill them directly.
Cosmetic treatments are not covered by Medicare. If something you ask about falls outside coverage, we will tell you before we do it.
South Carolina Medicaid
We are in-network with South Carolina Medicaid and with the Medicaid managed care plans listed below. If you are covered by Medicaid and have trouble getting to a dermatology office, an in-home visit may be the most practical way to get your skin checked. Request a visit or call and we will verify your plan.

VA Community Care Network requires a referral. While coverage responsibility lies with the patient, we will gladly help verify whether we are in-network with your insurer. For self-pay pricing, call us at 864-365-6405. Self-pay and uninsured patients have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before their visit. Just ask when scheduling.
Common coverage questions
Does Medicare cover dermatology at home?
Yes. Medicare Part B covers medically necessary dermatology services, and that coverage applies whether the visit happens in a clinic or in your home. We are in-network with Medicare, we bill Medicare directly, and we never charge a trip fee for coming to you. Cosmetic services are not covered by Medicare.
Do you accept South Carolina Medicaid?
Yes. We are in-network with South Carolina Medicaid and with the Medicaid managed care plans listed on this page, including Absolute Total Care, BCBS HealthyBlue Medicaid, First Choice, Molina Healthcare of SC, and Select Health of SC.
Do you charge a trip fee or travel fee for home visits?
No. We never charge trip fees for home visits anywhere in our Upstate service area.
What if I do not have insurance?
We see self-pay patients. Call 864-365-6405 for self-pay pricing. Self-pay and uninsured patients have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before the visit under the No Surprises Act. Just ask when you schedule.
Will you check my coverage before my visit?
Yes. While responsibility for coverage ultimately rests with the patient, our team will gladly verify whether we are in-network with your plan before your visit. Have your insurance card handy when you call.
Do I need a referral?
Most plans do not require a referral to see us. The VA Community Care Network does require a referral. If you are not sure, call us and we will check.
